8U Summer Team Information

8U Summer Fastpitch

Welcome to White Bear 8U Fastpitch! White Bear Lake 8U teams play in the Centennial Lakes Fastpitch League. The 8U season runs from April-mid-June.

REGISTRATION FOR 8U IS NOW CLOSED

Practices/League Games                                                                                                   

Practices and league games will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. 

Teams will practice and/or play games 2 weeknights and play in 2-weekend tournaments. 

Tryouts

8U will not go through a try-out process. We will do our best to honor friend requests but cannot guarantee this.  Summer 2025 may introduce a new 8U process/skills assessment so keep checking back for updates! Email Joni Joy with requests or questions.

Uniform Fittings                                                                                                            

Uniform Fittings for 8U will take place the same time as 10U-14U tryouts.  This is being held at North Campus Gymnasium from 5:30 to 8:00, on February xxxxx.  Please stop in anytime during these hours to get a fitting.  If you cannot make it, please contact Dawn Coudron 

League                                                                                                                          

We participate in the 8U Centennial League. This league consists of teams from the NE Metro (Centennial, Roseville, Forest Lake, North Branch, Mahtomedi, WBL, Chisago Lakes, and other surrounding communities). Families should plan to play half of their league games in WBL and half of them in another league community. 

Tournament Schedule                                                                                                     

Teams will play in 2 weekend association tournaments. 8U teams will play in the Dirt Devil tournament run through Anoka-Ramsey Fastpitch. This tournament is held the weekend before Memorial Day and may include Friday play.  They will also participate in the Centennial League end-of-season tournament. This tournament is normally held in the Lino Lakes area on Father's Day weekend (games may also start mid-week).

8U/10U/12U (B,C teams)  Anoka Devil Tournament  May xx-xx Anoka (some but not all teams play on Friday)

8U Centennial League Tourney June xx-xx Centennial  (may include mid-week games)

4th of July weekend- No games scheduled

*8U  Monsta Championships  July xx-xx   Shakopee *(Typically “B & C” Teams and optional if the teams choose to play)

*8U  NAFA Championships July xx-xx Lexington, MN  *(Typically “A” Teams and optional if the team qualifies and chooses to play)

DIBS-Volunteer Requirements                                                                                         

DIBS are White Bear Fastpitch's requirement of all Families to complete volunteer hours per Season.  The success of our program relies heavily on member volunteers to help with Field maintenance/preparation, concessions, and other one off needs during the season.  Please participate in this effort to support the athletes and our community.

2025 Summer Requirements

  • 10u, 12u, 14u families: x hours per player with a maximum of x  hours per family. (note: anyone over the age of 14 can complete the hours for the family)
  • 8u families: hours per player with a maximum of hours.
  • DIBS fees are $400 per player with a $800 maximum
  • During Registration, families will be required to EITHER accept the DIBS commitment OR pay the DIBS fee in advance as part of the athlete registration.
  • The association will bill via SportEngine at the end of the season, if the hours are not completed by July x.
  • Please do not reach out during the last week of the season stating you did not have an opportunity to sign up for DIBS.  Reminders go out every week.   If you have issues with the expected DIBS opportunity times (weekends) you need to let us know EARLY.

Equipment Needed                                                                                                        

All girls will need a fielding mask, glove, bat, cleats and a batting helmet. If you need any assistance with equipment please let us know. (Note: you cannot use a T-ball bat)

Player/Parent Meeting                                                                                                        

There will be a mandatory player/parent meeting on March x evening (you will get an email closer to tryout dates with the details) 

Coaches                                                                                                                       

Interested in being a coach this upcoming season? View the coaches page here and fill out a coaching application.   We can have 3 coaches per team or 2 coaches and one manager.  These 3 people are Exempt from DIBS/Volunteer requirement hours (because they put in much more than that) IF they attend 85% of practices and games.   4 volunteers per team is the max and if you have 4 you need to split one Child's dibs requirements in anyway you wish between the 4 coaches.  (only 3 coaches/adults are allowed on the bench at games per MN Softball rules)
