2025 WBAFSA Scholarship Guidelines

The WHITE BEAR AREA FASTPITCH SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION (WBAFSA) seeks to provide the development of the community's youth through our fastpitch softball organization. The WBAFSA has created a scholarship program that may provide some financial assistance for need-based families. It is our goal to use these scholarship funds to help those who need it most. The goal of our association is to get girls on the field, playing in a positive fun environment regardless of financial situation.

 Scholarship Guidelines:

  • Scholarship Recipients must live within the participation boundaries of the White Bear Lake School district and go to school at a White Bear Lake Area School.

  • A custodial parent or legal guardian of a participant who qualifies for the free/reduced lunch program or Department of Health and Human Services Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF Emergency Fund) program may apply for a scholarship for financial assistance of registration fees. You must submit a copy of your qualification letter before tryouts.  When an applicant is receiving free or reduced lunch, it is evidence of the person’s low income and inability to pay full WBAFSA fees.

  • Applicants must provide a written statement of immediate financial hardship explaining the current situation in detail. WBAFSA recognizes that a family may not be receiving formal assistance from the program mentioned above, yet financial assistance may still be needed to participate in WBAFSA.   In these instances, the WBAFSA scholarship committee will consider the financial hardship statement to determine scholarship eligibility. Please provide documentation that may support the facts in your financial hardship statement.

  • Eligibility for the scholarship program does not guarantee that you will receive assistance. Funds are limited and will be distributed as available on a discretionary basis to those who qualify.

  • Scholarships normally will cover partial registration fees.

  • Families with children who attend private school may not be eligible for WBAFSA scholarships.

  • Scholarships only apply to the registration fees.

  • Scholarship funds will not cover extra uniform pieces (One full uniform is included in all registrations), volunteer responsibilities, or Tryout fees.

  • Scholarship recipients will not be obligated to do fundraising activities or buyout of fundraising for the association.

  • Failure to complete DIBS (volunteer) hours will result in future disqualification from the scholarship program for ALL family members. Participants are responsible for reaching out to the WBAFSA Director to discuss anything that will hinder fulfilling those hours, in a timely manner.
