White Bear Area Fastpitch Softball Association

Tryouts will be held at the Vadnais Sports Center on Saturday, February 16th 2013 for 10U, 12U and 14U age groups.

Tryouts will be held on Saturday, February 16th at the Vadnais Sports Center.  Tryout times for each age group are as follows:

• 12U 8:15 am check in/warm up, tryouts start at 9am sharp.
• 10U 10:45 am check in/warm up, tryouts start at 11:30 am.
• 14U 12:30 pm check in/warm up, tryouts start at 1:15 pm.

Each group will have the pitcher/catcher tryout in their time slot towards the end of each session.

What is the tryout process?

 

Upon signing in at her age appropriate time on Saturday, each girl will be assigned a number. She

will then go into the dome to be evaluated. Parents are not allowed inside the dome during the process. All evaluations are recorded based on the numbers assigned at registration. Each girl will be evaluated in five general skill areas: Infield, Outfield, Throw & Catch, Hitting and Base Running. The girls (based on numbers assigned at the beginning of the process) are ranked based on their evaluations. This ranking is used as a guide and it is not an absolute determination of team placement.

What is the purpose of the team tryouts?

 

Tryouts can be intimidating for players and parents, but in actuality our “tryouts” are an evaluation to decide the appropriate level for each player. We need to be able to evaluate players so we can make up teams that have a chance to succeed. If for an unavoidable reason (e.g. a weekend tournament in another sport or an illness) a player cannot attend the primary evaluation night, the player must notify the association in advance.

What should I bring to tryouts?

·        Glove

·        Batting hemlet

·        Water bottle

·        Tennis shoes or cleats

·        $100 volunteer check written out to WBAFSA (must have this prior to team placement

·        Another check if you would like to order additional uniform items or apparel
